The Ondo State House of Assembly, on Thursday, withdrew an appeal it lodged against the Deputy Governor of the state, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, whom they planned to impeach over alleged acts of gross misconduct.
Counsel to the lawmakers, Dr. Remi Peter O., informed the appeal court that the appellants had decided to discontinue the matter “in the interest of peace.”
He said: “My lords, the parties in this matter have found a political solution to their problems.
“Therefore, on behalf of the appellants, we are here to withdraw this appeal.

“The instruction to this effect was given to us yesterday, and we have filed this morning the notice of withdrawal.
“In the interest of peace, we seek to withdraw this appeal.”
The deputy governor’s lawyer, Mr. A.A. Adewusi, confirmed that he was served with all the necessary processes to that effect and didn’t oppose the application.
Similarly, other respondents in the matter, including the Department of State Services, DSS, which was represented by Mr. I. Awo, did not oppose the withdrawal of the appeal.
Therefore, a three-member panel of the appellate court, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, dismissed the appeal.
The Ondo State House of Assembly had been restrained from impeaching the deputy governor from office over alleged alleged misconduct and consequently appealed the decision of the court, following the ruling of Justice Emeka Nwite, who presided over an ex-parte application and an affidavit of urgency that was filed before the high court by Aiyedatiwa.
However, following a political solution by both parties, the matter was withdrawn and subsequently struck out.
