…As Eze contestant nabbed over alleged kidnap

The Imo State Police Command has paraded a pastor in Njaba in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State for allegedly defiling of an 11-year-old daughter of a fellow pastor.
The randy pastor, identified as Anthony Joseph, was paraded among other suspects including an Ezeship contestant in Awara autonomous community of Ohaji/Egbema council of the State Eze, Andrew Okuegbunuwa, for alleged involvement in a kidnap incident.
Parading the suspects before newsmen at the Imo Police Command Headquarters, in Owerri, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Issac Akinmoyede, said that the matter would be charged to court while investigation on the incident has commenced.

On the kidnap incident, the police boss said that the kidnap syndicate abducted one Louis Obodo at Mgbala Agwa and Insp. Oscar Mbaeri in Agwa in Oguta Local Government Area; Chigozirim Nnaji in Egwelu Atta in Njaba Local Government Area; Desmond Okonkwo in Oru West Local Government Area and Anyanwu Amarachi on July 19, 2020, after which the police gave them a hot chase.
The police boss further said the syndicate abandoned the Jeep during an exchange of gun fire with operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad and Anti-kidnapping units of the Command.
Mr. Akinmoyede said that Okueghunuwa, who hails from Obor in Awara community, has confessed that he provided his unregistered Lexus 330 Jeep for kidnap activities of the syndicate.
He added that the syndicate paid him N3 million in lieu of his abandoned Lexus 330 with Registration No EDO URM 404 EL, which turned out to be fake.
The traditional ruler contestant, when interviewed, said that his nephew took his vehicle to carry out kidnapping, adding that he was not one of them.
He said, “Though they have used my vehicle about four times, and they gave me money”.
The police boss disclosed that the gang had, in the past, ambushed and attacked a team of the NDLEA, during which they killed one operative instantly and left two operatives seriously wounded and absconded with their rifles on May 15, 2020.
Mr. Akinmoyede stated that the sum of four million and two hundred thousand Naira; one Lexus 330 SUV; four AK 47 rifles; one LAR rifle; one SMG rifle; 120 rounds of 7.62MM life ammunition.
In an interview with the suspected rapist, Pastor Joseph Anthony admitted that he was tempted to commit the act.
According to him, he had just been transferred to the Njaba chapter of Winners Chapel, and was waiting to be assigned his personal residential apartment before another Pastor, Okoronkwo offered to harbour him till he secured his own accommodation.
