Imo NUJ receives N3.5m materials from Italy-based designer

The Imo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has received Italian fabrics wears/materials made up of trousers, shirts, shoes, suits and ties worth N3.5 million.

The event held at the NUJ Secretariat, New Owerri, saw the Chief Executive Officer of Valentino Da Vinci Ltd, Barr. Valentine Ugbaenyi Ugbala, dressing NUJ leadership and members with the materials.

Presenting the high quality and world class fabrics to journalists, Chief Ugbala said that he was compelled to do that in appreciation of their support to him and his company.

Ugbala, popularly known as Ikuku Oma, Orlu said the gesture was part of his philanthropic nature of giving back to the society God’s grace and favour upon his life.

He assured of sustaining the mutual partnership annually, noting that the branded clothing materials were made with high quality Italian fabrics which includes suits, shirts, trousers, shoes, ties, ladies handbags etc.

He passionately appealed to the media practitioners on the need to support the Shared Prosperity and 3R mantra administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma in rebuilding Imo State.

Ugbala further advised journalists on the need to be objective and constructive in their reportage noting the importance of their watch dog roles in the society.

In his response, Chairman of NUJ in the state, Chief Chris Akaraonye, expressed gratitude for the gifts which he described as the first of its kind since he started journalism over 30 years ago.

Akaraonye assured the staff and Management of Valentino Da Vinci LTD of the willingness of the union in sustaining the mutual partnership insisting that the best ever friendship any person or corporate organization to make is with journalist (s).

He equally promised that the union at the appropriate time will appreciate the CEO for his immense philanthropic gestures to humanity and Journalists in particular.

Adding his voice, Sir Innocent Igwe, the National Trustee of the Union, reiterated that the gifts were novel and thanked Chief Ugbala for his ‘milk of human kindness’ towards media men in the state.
