Imo guber: Uzodinma no longer sleeps; he’s been running to Abuja for help – Achonu

Candidate of the Labour Party in the November 11 Imo State governorship election, Sen. Nathan Achonu, has alleged that ever since he joined the gubernatorial race, Governor Hope Uzodimma had been frequenting Abuja in search of rescue.

This was even as Sen. Achonu maintained that it was the turn of Okigwe zone to produce the governor for the state.
He noted that prominent Okigwe sons like Chief Tony Chukwu and erstwhile governor, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim, who are backing the re-election of Governor Uzodimma based on the convoluted Imo Charter of Equity were doing so to please Governor Uzodimma because he had rescued them from the mess they had found themselves in recent times.

Sen. Achonu’s words, “I am not here to campaign. But, I am here to tell you people that I am already the governor, and that is why Governor Hope Uzodimma no longer sleeps.
“Everyday he runs to Abuja looking for help because he knows that I will flush him out of Douglas House on November 11.
“Those our brothers (Tony Chukwu and Ikedi Ohakim), who are supporting Governor Uzodimma on their own version of the Charter of Equity, please forgive them because the governor is holding them to ransom even if they know that it is the turn of Okigwe zone. But when I become the governor I will free them. They know what I am talking about.

“Tony Chukwu and Ikedi Ohakim never supported my senatorial ambition, but I became the senator of Okigwe zone. I am happy that Imo people have backed my bid to take Imo back from the hands of those who have destroyed the state. The governor cannot even visit his own village but his people gave me a rousing welcome last Tuesday, when I went there to campaign.”

The LP candidate enjoined the large crowd to come out on the 11 November to cast their votes and then wait until the results are declared and that they should not be intimidated by anybody because the state belongs to them.
Earlier, state chairman of the Labour Party, Calistus Ihejiagwa, who welcomed members of the APC and ADC into the Party, urged the youths to protect their future by voting for the LP.
