Imo Guber: Five candidates sign peace accord, Uzodinma missing

Five governorship candidates in the November 11 gubernatorial election in Imo State on Sunday signed a peace accord at the Assumpta Cathedral in Owerri, the state capital.

The accord was brokered by the Justice, Development, Peace and Caritas Commission, the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri, the National Voter’s Drive Coalition, and the Imo Advocacy Group.

It’s purpose was to bring all the gubernatorial candidates together to share their manifestos, speak and educate the electorate on how prepared they are to meet their hopes, and aspirations.

The candidates of five political parties, including Senator Athan Achonu, (Labour Party, LP); Senator Samuel Anyanwu (Peoples Democratic Party, PDP); Chief Okere John Jude (Accord Party, AP); Maj Gen Lincoln Ogunewe (retd) (Action Alliance); and Sir Anthony Ejiogu (the All Progressives Grand Alliance,APGA) attended the event and signed the accord, pledging to ensure a credible and violence-free election.

However, the candidate of the the All Progressives Congress, APC, Governor Hope Uzodinma, was conspicuously absent at the signing ceremony and was not represented by anyone.
