Imo guber: Controversy as Uzodinma lands in another trouble over false claims that PDP candidate, SamDaddy has withdrawn for him

... It's a lie, Anyaneu says

Sen. Hope Uzodinma, Imo State Governor, seem to be having it rough in his reelection bid.
Not yet recovered from the backlash of the attack on Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, which has paralysed the state barely 24 hours to the November 11 governorship poll in Imo State, the governor has landed yet in another controversy.
A video that circulated on social media on Thursday night purportedly broadcast on TVC news, claimed that Senator Samuel Anyanwu, SamDaddy who is flying the flag of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, had withdrawn from the race and thrown his weight behind  Uzodimma.

However, Anyanwu, has debunked claims that he has stepped down for Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress, describing as fake news.

Ikenna Onuoha, the PDP candidate’s spokesman in a statement, said: “This video is not only a fake, blatant lie from the pit of hell, very mischievous, ridiculous, and misleading, but a senseless vile sheepishly formulated by the outgoing Governor Uzodimma to deceive the public.

“A critical look at the said video indicates that it was criminally edited and superimposed by these mischief makers to suit Uzodimma and his party’s tendencies. Please, ignore such falsehood as Senator Anyanwu never withdrew and does not have such intention in this election he has almost won.

“The truth of the matter is that Senator Samuel  Anyanwu and the candidate of the PDP is a big threat to Uzodimma, who has become dried in both the physical and spiritual since Imo people started booing him.

“It is important to tell Uzodimma and his supporters that no amount of blackmail and empty propaganda will save him from the looming defeat on Saturday.

“Senator Samuel  Anyanwu remains a candidate to beat in this election. He is prominently in the race and will never think of withdrawing from a contest over 70 percent of observers have ticked him as the likely winner.”

Meanwhile, another report claimed that the management TVC has given Uzodinma 24 hours to withdraw the video and apologise to the media establishment or risk legal suit.
The ultimatum was contained in a letter with the caption, “Fraudulent Use of TVC Name, logo and inscription by Governor Uzodinma of Imo state: An Unwholesome and Distasteful Desperation to Retain Power” allegedly signed by the station’s Director of Operations, Tunji Olumide.
Chief Nworie Ken, a PDP chieftain, castigated the governor for being desperate and resorting to forgery.
“This is very sad,” he added, “if the governor came this low. I sometimes wonder why this man does not just pack his load and leave. He has done more harm to Imo than all the past governments combined.
“Let him vacate Douglas House and flee abroad. This is because not even the kindred he hails from in Omuma would be ashamed to welcome him home because they too felt the heat of Uzodinma’s atrocious government.”
