Senior Special Assistant to the Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State on Gender, Vulnerable Groups Northern, (Women Affairs), Hon. Fatima Hanza, have restated the government’s commitment aimed at touching the lives of Northern Women through training in skill acqusition to ensure growth and sustenance of their families.
The governor’s aide disclosed this during the official flag off of statewide sensitisation programme for Northern Women, in Owerri zone, held at Development Secondary School, in the state capita.
She said that the training on skill acqusition and other useful programmes would keep the Northern Women busy to avert any manner of abuse and other negative vices such as rape and humuliations.
While calling on them to support the 3Rs policy of the state government which is anchored on Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Recovery, adding that the essence of the sensitization programme which would also be extended to the remaining zones of Orlu and Okigwe is to enlighten them on government policies and programmes.
Hon.Hamza that as one indivisible Nigeria, there is need for the women to continue to live together and in harmony with their neighbours as a way to promote healthy living devoid of any trouble.
She paid special tribute to the Governor Uzodimma for his support that enabled her to mount the sensitization programme for the Northern women describing it as wonderful.
He commended the Governor for all his support for the Northern Community in Imo State adding that such spirit of love displayed by the Governor would ever be appreciated any time any day.
In his address, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Gender, Vulnerable Groups, Northern Affairs (Men), Hon. Sulaiman Ibrahim Sulaiman, thanked the governor for his demonstration of deep love for the Northern Community in Imo State.
He also expressed appreciation to the Governor for his support and approval for the sensitization programme to hold, adding that since the creation of Imo State in 1976, the state has never witnessed any good governance before except now.
While assuring on behalf of the Northern community not to let government down, the SSA called on the Hausa Community to come together, join hands to promote peaceful living with their host state.

In his remarks, the Northern Community and Muslim Traditional Ruler, in Imo State, Alhaji Auwal Said Baba Sulaimanm commended Governor Uzodimma for appointing three Northerners in different positions of authority in the state which confirmed his promised made earlier to work with the Northern Community
He said that there has been tremendous changes since the appointment of the Northerners adding that before there are used to be many complaints concerning the activities of the cattle herdsmen, but presently such has reduced.
He said that as it stands now, Northerners were no more visitors to Imo State, adding that they have spent close to 150years in the state and have involved in inter-marriages with communities which goes to show that they are part and parcel of the state.
While he extolled the state government’s good intentions to mount the program for the Northern women, the Sarkin Hausa said that the gathering would offer them the opportunity to be abreast with the happenings in the state and expose them.
Adding his voice, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Enlightenment Hon. Stanford Nwokedi advised the Northern community in Imo to remain united and maintain peaceful living.
He assured that with the love so far displayed by the Governor to them is a clear indication he is ready to do everything to assist the women.
Other personalities present to honour the event include SSA to the Governor of Artisan, Hon. JohnDonald Ikegwuruka, representative of Ngor Okpala LGA Interim Management Committee Chairman and the Interim Management Committee Chairman of Owerri Municipal Council.
