Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said he was not afraid of an invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after his tenure elapses on May 29, 2023.
Governor Wike said he would not run away but honour the anti-graft agency’s invitation if he is invited.
Recall that chairman of the EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, is believed to be planning to clamp down on corrupt governors that were due to lose immunity when their tenures expire on May 29.

However, speaking on Channels Television breakfast programme, SUNRISE on Monday, the governor said that did not bother him and insisted that he would not run away from Nigeria ahead of successor’s inauguration like some past governors.
He said, “I’m not going to run away because of EFCC. Why should they invite me? If they invite me, I will honour their invitation. I will not run away.”
