I’m a mother and pastor; I can’t manipulate due process – Abia Presiding Officer vows, suspends collation

The Abia State Presiding Officer and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Prof. (Mrs.) Nnenna Oti, has explained why she suspended the collation of results of the March 18 gubernatorial election in Abia State.

According to her, she stopped the collation after they (INEC) found out that there were irregularities in some polling units, particularly in Obingwa Local Government Area where INEC office was invaded.

Prof. Oti assured the people of Abia State that she would not do anything to manipulate the process, stating that the Pastor in her and the mother in her would not permit her to do anything that would affect the future of their children in Abia State.

She declared that she would do what is right in the sight of God and man.

In her words, “I’m Professor Nnenna Oti from Afikpo, VC of FUTO. The people’s mandate shall stand. I have spent all my adult life in pursuit of the ideals of good governance. We shall stand by the these principles. The pastor in me and the mother in me will not permit me to do anything that will adversely affect the future of our children. I shall do right by God and by man!”
