Ikorodu, Imota monarchs laud conduct of Caleb varsity students

The Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, has commended the good conduct and behaviour of students of Caleb University, Imota, Lagos.

According to a statement by the university in Lagos on Monday, the monarch made the remark during a visit to his palace by the university’s newly-constituted second visitation panel and management team.

Shotobi said: “I have never gotten any negative report about Caleb University students’ involvement in cult activities.”

According to him, the establishment of the institution in my domain has greatly contributed to the development of Ikorodu in particular and Lagos State in general.

He lauded the contributions of the School’s Proprietor, Dr Oladega Adebogun, to education as a teacher, education administrator and an entrepreneur of global repute.

The statement also said that members of the visitation panel and principal officers of the university paid a courtesy visit to the palace of Oba Mudasiru Bakare- Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota.

Bakare said that the establishment of Caleb University in his domain had brought huge blessing, economic and social developments to the area.

“The early missionaries came to Imota first and when they came to this area, my forefathers drove them away.

“But in my own reign, a university is now established in Imota. This is indeed a great achievement, “he said.

Responding, Prof. Nosa Owens-Ibie, the University’s Vice-Chancellor appreciated the monarchs for their unalloyed support to the institution over the years.

Owens-Ibie, however, solicited for the continuous support of the monarchs to enable the institution to achieve more.

Prof. Ayodele Soladoye, Chairperson of the Visitation Panel, thanked the monarchs for the warm reception accorded to members of the panel and the principal officers of the university.

Soladoye told the monarchs that the visitation panel set up by universities was not an inquisition but a necessary organ to review corporate governance in the university system.

He said the panel would also make recommendations on how to make the institution better and uplift standards, learning and research of the institution to a globally-recognised level. (NAN)
