A former senator, who represented Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has said only fairness and equity could frustrate plans of the secessionist Independent People of Biafra (IPOB), led by Nnamdi Kanu, from dividing the country.
Sen. Sani stated that the Federal Government must treat all Nigerians with fairness without tribal sentiments.
Particularly, the former federal lawmaker noted that for Nigeria to be able to neutralise the IPOB separatist agenda, the Igbo should be treated fairly and justly.

Sen. Sani, who was likely reacting to the accusation by the Presidency that Kanu and IPOB were trying to destroy Nigeria before the international community, in a post on his Facebook page, insisted that fairness and justice would unify the country.
“The only way to defeat the Igbo man who supports the IPOB is to treat the Igbo man who supports Nigeria with fairness and justice and to treat all Nigerians with fairness and Justice.
“As long as we would continue to run a nation and a system where a collective punishment is meted on a people because of their political decision or history, we are simply emboldening the secessionists and their sympathisers.
“Love those who hold the national flag to crush those who reject the national flag so that our great country can withstand all subversions.”
