Two oil workers from the Agip Oil Company and staff of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, were yesterday killed by suspected sea pirates in Bayelsa State while another six were abducted and taken to unknown destination. The pirates were reported to have operated from two different oil facilities operated by the Nigerian oil company.
The Nigerian Xpress learnt that the suspected sea pirates ambushed their victims at facilities in Okoroma and Ogbokiri Akassa communities of Nembe and Brass Local Government areas of Bayelsa State. The workers were said to be working near Obama manifold when they were attacked and abducted.
The identity and nationalities of the oil workers are yet unknown.

Ogbere Solomon, Spokesman of the NSCDC, Bayelsa State Command said one personnel of the Corps died in the ambush, while two others who were earlier declared missing have been found and are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Yenagoa.
He said; “Our officers were ambushed and attacked by some unknown gunmen while on their lawful duty of providing protection to some Agip oil workers close to Obama manifold in Okoroma community of Nembe Local Government.”
