Gunmen on Wednesday killed three people and kidnapped many others in Kogi State.
Among the dead is Nicholas Ofodile, the owner of a popular supermarket in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, and two other persons.
Ofodile reportedly encountered the daredevil gunmen, suspected to be armed robbers in operation, on the Gegu/Koton-Karfe/Abuja Expressway, in the Kogi Local Government Area.

Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) had reportedly engaged the robbers in a gun battle at the time Ofodile ran into them and was caught in the crossfire.
Reports have it that the gunmen also succeeded in abducting many commuters on the busy Abuja/Lokoja highway and whisked them away.
William Aya, DSP, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident. He said: “I just got a call that the owner of the Chucks Supermarket has been killed alongside one other person. The command has yet to get the details of what happened.”
