How angry youths set ablaze Onitsha-based businessman in Imo

Angry youths in Imo State has set ablaze an Onitsha-based businessman and a dealer  on phone and accessories for allegedly killing two persons and inflicting injuries on five others.

The middle aged victim, simply identified as Chigozie Alagboso, aka “ Kpakas Chigozie”, hailed from Umuduru Ubahohie in Nnempi Autonomous Community in Oru West LGA, of the state. He was suspected to be under a spell or influence of  alcohol when he allegedly killed 4 -year-old Master Daniel Oleka and a security man whose identity is yet to be ascertained.

His unexpected action also left five others seriously injured  before he was overpowered and set ablaze by angry youths.

The Nigerian Xpress gathered that before the incident, Chigozie was said to have abandoned his business at Onitsha and returned home to perpetrate the dastardly act.

One of the victims was a grandfather, Mr. Kpakas Alagbaoso, whose bald head was ripped open by the assailant, who used both cutlass and axe to cut any one in sight.

Others who got deep cuts included three children,  who had their bodies mercilessly inflicted with serious injuries – Miss Chinaza Uzoma, with a broken skull, Miss Ijeoma Uzoma, whose right breast was chopped-off with another deep cut at her leg, Master Maduawuchi Uzoma, who had a serious cut on the leg – and Mrs. Regina Orisa, with a cut on the skull.

The victims are critically ill at Bex Memorial Hospital, Nnempi, where they are battling to save their lives.

The unfortunate incident, which occurred on Sunday, December 8, 2019 rattled the villagers, making them to wonder whether they offended the gods of the land.

An eyewitness said people of the area woke up that day only to discover that  Chigozie Alagbaoso, had as early as 5am sent innocent persons to untimely death

When contacted,the Medical Director of the community hospital, Dr Emeka Okafor, said that his medical team is doing everything possible to save the victims. He revealed that the said victims were critically injured but assured that they would stabilise by God’s grace.

In a brief chat with Mrs. Regina Orisa, one of the victims, she said that Chigozie had upon returning home three months ago in October, confided in her that he wanted to buy a jeep and own a big house and all that comfort. She said that Chigozie was in a hurry to get everything

Mrs. Orisa recalled that on one occasion, Alagbaoso jumped into the well and came out on his own and later complained that he was being remote controlled.

She revealed that the Chigozie’s actions  made members of his family to suspect that he must have gone mental.
