A 21-year-old housewife, Ebere Felix, who allegedly inflicted injuries on a 13-year-old domestic help, on Tuesday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos state.
The police charged Felix, who lives in Ojo area of Lagos state, with assault.
Police prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March.
He said that the defendant inflicted injuries on the girl with a cane.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Section prescribes three years jail term for assault.
Following her plea of not guilty, Magistrate Mrs. B.O Osunsanmi, admitted her to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Osunsanmi ordered that the surety must be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government (LASG).
She adjourned the case until April 17 for hearing. (NAN)
