A househelp,Victor Ambeyi, has been arrested by the police for murdering his employer at her home in Nyathain, Kasarani area of Nairobi, Kenya one month after he resumed working there.
21-year old Victor was employed as a casual worker by the 78-year old victim, Catherine Wacek a month before he murdered her
After killing her, Victor wrapped her body in a blanket and hide it in septic tank within the compound in an attempt to cover his track
However, his lid was blown open after the deceased family noticed she had gone missing on Saturday and calls to her mobile phone were not connecting as it had been switched off.
Her sudden disappearance was reported to the police leading to commencement of investigation.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, police visited her home and after thorough search found the body wrapped in a blanket inside theseptic tank.
Examination conducted on her body showed there were injuries on the back of her head.
Victor however fled but following a manhunt for him, detectives were able to arrest him at his cousin’s house in Kinoo, Nairobi and was taken into custody along with his cousins.
During interrogation, Victor confessed to killing his employer, claiming that he killed her because she allegedly paid him less than the amount they had agreed upon.
“A 21-year-old man believed to have murdered his employer (Ms Catherine Waceke Kimotho) on Sunday, November 10 at Njathaini area of Kasarani has been arrested. The suspect, Victor Ambeyi, was smoked out of his hideout in the Valley area of Kinoo in Kiambu County,” the police said.
“In the sad incident reported at Njathaini Police Station, the deceased’s body was discovered sprawled at her homestead, and the suspect, a casual labourer at the home, was missing.
“Acting on intelligence, DCI officers from Nairobi regional headquarters proceeded to Kinoo, where the suspect was being harbored by his cousin, Collins Seda Wanjau, 22. The two were arrested.
“After interrogating the suspects, detectives furthered the investigation to Githurai 44, where they recovered the mobile phone of the deceased at a phone repair shop belonging to 22-year-old Benjamin Kimani Mwaura. He was also taken into custody.
“The three suspects have been booked at Kasarani Police Station ahead of their arraignment tomorrow, as detectives seek to unearth the motive behind the heinous murder.”
