Heavy police presence as protesters prepare to march at Lekki Toll Gate

#EndSARS protesters are gearing up to Occupy Lekki Toll Gate, the scene of shootings by the Nigeria Army in October last year.

A Lagos Panel of Judicial Inquiry into police brutality had last week ordered the reopening of the Toll Gate.

Some members of Panel objected to the reopening of the saying justice is yet to be served for victims of police brutality and those who were shot by soldiers on October 20, last year at the toll gate.

A vocal member of the Panel and an #EndSARS promoter, Bolatito Rinu Oduala withdrew from the panel citing double standards by the Lagos State government.

The decision to reopen the toll gate prompted organisers to plan a protest today at Lekki Toll Gate.

The Lagos police command had yesterday deployed members of its personnel to the proposed scene of today’s protest.

As of this morning, members of Nigerian police were seen at Lekki Toll Gate to quell a possible breakdown of law and order.
