Three teachers in Uvwie Council Area of Delta State, were yesterday, allegedly abducted and taken to unknown destination by gunmen dressed in army uniform.
The gunmen reportedly invaded the Ohorhe Secondary School in a Toyota Highlander SUV and initially held teachers and students hostage before escaping with their victims.
They had driven into the school and made for the staff room where they abducted three of the teachers and made good their escape through a different route.
“I was in the village on a visit and sitting with my brothers before we heard that kidnappers invaded the community school. So, we ran to the school, but before we got there, the abductors had already gone,” an eyewitness recounted.
“We met the teachers and they said some gunmen came to the school in army uniform and in a gold coloured Highlander and abducted three teachers,” he added.
Confirming the incident, Sam Ijeh, Spokesman of the Commissioner for Basic Secondary school, said he also needed to confirm from the Chief Inspector of Education (CIE), who was responsible for reporting such developments.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Onome Onovughagbogaya, confirmed the abductions.
