Gunmen have reportedly attacked the convoy of Emir of Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State, Sanusi Muhammad, killing eight people on his entourage.
The attack reportedly occurred, on Thursday night, while the Emir was on his way back from Abuja.
Three of his police security were said to have been shot dead as well as five other people.
Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Usman Nagogo, was said to have confirmed the incident, in Katsina State, on Friday.

There has been a spike in the activities of bandits in the north-west recently.
Last Friday, over 300 schoolboys were abducted from Government Science Secondary, Kankara in Katsina.
The schoolboys were released on Thursday — after spending nearly seven days in captivity.
