Group storms Abuja to celebrate Prophet Mohammed’s birthday

An Islamic group under the platform of Torikat Tijaniyat wa Ibrahimiyat Society of Nigeria, on Saturday in Abuja marked its `Annual Maolud Nabiyy’, the birth of Prophet Mohammed.

Some members of the group told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the 2019 Annual Maolud Nabiyy Celebration also held in Kano State.

They said that the event was to reflect the teachings of Prophet Mohammed and also to pray for peace in Nigeria.

A  scholar, Alhaji Mufutaudeen Balogun, said that the group used the celebration to enjoin Muslims to adhere strictly to the teachings of Prophet Mohammed.

“We also used the event to advice political leaders in Nigeria to wake up to the challenges of good governance.

“Our leaders should ensure that the positive impact of good governance is felt by all citizens and not by a section of the society.

“Nigerian leaders need to be advised to improve on socio-economic facilities such as power, road, shelter and security,’’ Balogun said.

Also,  speaking to NAN, Mallam  Yinusa Awalu, a member of the group urged Muslims to support government’s efforts in tackling the issues of kidnapping, general insecurity and ethno-religious crisis in the country.

Awalu charged Muslim politicians to show exemplary leadership qualities as taught by Prophet Mohammed.

He said political leaders, who are Muslims, should use their positions to serve the people, rather than enmass wealth when the majority of the people  are hungry and jobless. (NAN)
