The people of Kwara Northern zone under the name of Kwara North Development Council (KWANDCO) have expressed their deep appreciations to President Muhammadu Buhari and the state government for approving the rehabilitation of four major roads in the area.
Three of the roads (federal roads) which for several decades had been abandoned and left in a state of disrepair are in the zone and the governor; Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is said to be frantically pressing on Federal Government to come to the peoples’ rescue.
The governor, had in a personally signed statement in Ilorin while dropping good news in respect of the roads said; “today, our efforts to further open up our state for socio-economic growth yielded huge returns as the Federal Executive Council (FEC) graciously granted approvals to the BUA Group for the rehabilitation of four major roads in Kwara State.
“These are Kosubosu-Kaiama-Bode Saadu (130km); Bacita-Shonga-Lafiagi (83km); Eiyenkorin-Afon-Offa-Odo Ottin in Osun State (49km); and Okuta-Bukuro Road, which connects to the Benin Republic (32km). These come to 294km in all.
“The roads will be constructed under the Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme (Executive Order 7). Upon completion, these projects will revolutionise road travels within Kwara and neighbouring states, with huge potentials for development and food security”.
Speaking with journalits in Ilorin, the state capital, Chairman of KWANDCO, Hon Ahmed Muhammad, described as commendable the listing of the four roads among the federal projects, using the President’s Executive Order 7 under the Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme with the BUA Group.
His words; “We, on behalf of the people of Kwara north, Kwara State and the commuting public, want to appreciate the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government for their concern for the plight of the people of the area and, indeed, the commuting public.
“We want to use this medium to appeal to the BUA Group to ensure speedy commencement and quality work. We urge BUA to consider the plight of the people in the areas. Continuity and completion in good time can only be guaranteed when the projects are properly funded,” he said.
Muhammad also commended Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and other relevant stakeholders for their role in ensuring the roads got the FEC’s attention and approval.
“The completion of these roads will breathe life into the social and economic dynamism of Kwara North which is the agricultural epicentre of Kwara State serving agricultural produce, in large quantity, to the South –West and other parts” he concluded.
