An all women Non-Governmental Organisation, Women for Change Initiatives (WCI), has commended the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu over his exhibition of milk of human kindness in him that has given two little girls of school ages hope for brighter future.

In a statement, on Friday, Convener of the NGO, Barr. Eyitope Success-Adekunle, praised the governor for that wonderful life-long assistance to the girls and their families wishing that all other people that are in positions to do so would emulate the governor.

“If others who are blessed by God, either withing the corporate world, religious circles, social organizations or NGOs should emulate Sanwo-Olu’s hand of kindness to other fellow beings in need, our society would be better for it, the impressed woman lawyer reasoned, adding, “one does not need to be a governor or hold political office to render assistance to humanity.”

The news of the governor about how he adopted two out of school went viral Thursday that, “on his way to an official function on Thursday, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu momentarily halted his convoy to attend to a disturbing situation. It was a sight of two underage girls on an errand for a bean cake vendor during school hours.

“Time was 11:00am; the girls were expected to be in school. But, both Amarachi Chinedu, 9, and Suwebat Husseini, 12, were forced to skip school by their parents in order to serve some domestic assistance.”

Irked by what he beheld, Sanwo-Olu was reported to have stopped his convoy to find out what was amiss only to discover that the poor girls were going to deliver buckets of peeled beans and pepper to a grinder around Anthony Village area. And upon investigation, the governor got to know that lack of financial muscle by the parent kept them on the streets instead of school.

The governor who was said was moved almost to tears promptly declared: “These two girls will be under my care and that of the First Lady,” on this, the NGO boss said, Sanwo-Olu has acted as a good, kind and well cultured African leader, saying, “it is however not a surprise because this is one of the qualities of good leadership that has endeared him to the hearts of the people in Lagos, Nigeria and beyond.”

Against this backdrop, Eyitayo Success-Adekunle expressed the need for the people to keep giving the governor maximum support and co-operate with him to do more, saying, “we are not in any doubt that, the governor still has more up his sleeves to exhibit.”
