Plans have reached advanced stage by the Sokoto State Government to mitigate the damaging effects of climate change.
This was disclosed by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who, on Monday evening, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Environment, Dr. Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar, at the Mabushi headquarters of the ministry, in Abuja.
The governor was accompanied by the state Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Sagir Bafarawa.
A statement made available to The Nigerian Xpress by Special Adviser Media and Publicity to the governor, Muhammad Bello, said Governor Tambuwal and the minister also discussed environmental issues and prospects of more collaboration between the state and the federal government.
According to Bafarawa, the state government has gone far in its effort to become greener, a step, he said, “is paramount in addressing climate change and protecting the environment.”
