Gov. Uzodimma’s aide sensitises Imo Hausa community on COVID-19

The Hausa community living at Mgbidi in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State has been advised to ensure strict adherence to all necessary regulations concerning COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the world today so as to avoid contacting the disease.

Senor Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor Hope Uzudimma of Imo State, on Gender, Vulnerable Groups, Northern Affairs (MEN), Hon. Sulaiman Ibrahim Sulaiman, gave the advise during his sensitisation tour to the community.

He said that the essence of his visit was to acquaint and educate the people on the implications as well as the importance of obeying the rules of the dreaded disease through the use of face mask, application of hand sanitiser and maintaining social distance among others as the case may be.

Sulaiman used the opportunity to inform them the measure and strategies the state government in power has taken in their right against the scourge Coronavirus disease in the state to ensure that Imolites including strangers residing in any part of the country are saved and secured.

He admonished them to always support government’s determination to alleviate the sufferings of the people in the state through her laudable programmes and policies.

Hon. Sulaiman charged the Hausa community to maintain peaceful living with their host community and avoid any act or action capable of generating trouble

Describing the Mgbidi community as a ‘kind-hearted’ and peace loving people, the Suleiman also urged that on no account should any member of Hausa community rise up against his host community that has provided them with both shelter and food.

He advised them not to take laws into their hands but rather not to hesitate to report to the traditional ruler of the community or security operatives in the area any issue of unknown situation that may result trouble for quick intervention and amicable resolution.

Welcoming the governor’s aide and his entourage, leader of Hausa Community at Mgbidi, Alhaji Ishiaku Muhammade, paid special tribute to the Suleiman for coming to fraternise with them at Mgbidi and to know how they are faring.

Muhammade informed him that the Hausa community, for a very long time, had maintained a peaceful and harmonious relationship with the Mgbidi community, he described as ‘good people’.

He pledged their resolve to continue to maintain and live with their host community in peace in full support to the government of Governor Hope Uzodimma to enable him transform the state

He promised to sensitise members of his community on the use of face mask, washing of hands, use of sanitiser, maintaining  social distanc as a measure to prevent the disease while commending the state government for adopting measure to fight against the pandemic in the state.
