Gov. Sanwo-Olu calls for commitment as Lagos honours 190 outstanding public officers

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, on Thursday, called for commitment from the state public workers as the state honoured 190 public officers from the Lagos Public Service with Outstanding Officers’ Award to mark the 2020/2021 Public Service Week.

The award presentation took place at the Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, at the ceremony urged the awardees and civil servants in the state to be good ambassadors of Lagos Public Service, and promised his administration would continue to give priority to the needs of the workers.

He further said public servants are the engine room of good governance, adding without them, politicians can not deliver good governance.

“Lagos public service will continue to raise the bar. The state public service have shown great capacity in the last three years of our administration. This administration, in recognition of your service, has always prioritized capacity building,” he said.

The governor urged them not to rest on their oars adding as a government, his administration will continue to pay more attention to their needs and increase their ability to meet high expectations of Lagosians.

The Head of Service, Mr. Muri Okunola said a total of 334 nominations were received from Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, local governments and local council development areas, out of which 190 were finally recommended.

Out of the 190, 109 were from the senior category while 81 were chosen from the junior category.

At the presentation, five junior officers were presented with a car each through a draw, while another won a business class return ticket to Dubai.

In the senior category, five senior officers also won five cars, one person won a return ticket to Dubai, while another two won $2000 each.
