The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has added another feather to her cap in terms of academic advancement as the school will on Tuesday, July 28, hold a virtual matriculation ceremony for the 2019/2020 newly admitted undergraduates.
FUOYE Management made this known to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, at the weekend, through the office of the Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Olumuyiwa Adeyinka.
Mr. Adeyinka in a release made available to the newsmen said, “Fuoye matriculation for 2019/2020 coming up on July 28, 2020 . It will be a virtual occasion.
“The date fixed to meet JAMB notice guidelines. That it is virtual means few people, less than or about 20 will be physically present, including students, staff, pressmen etc.”
In another positive development, the school has emerged one of the first 200 top universities in Africa and top 20 in Nigeria through a webometric ranking recently.
This attests to the recent remarks by the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Soremekun during the inspection of many infrastructural projects by a team of the University’s Council February.
Prof. Soremekun said his administration has positioned the school to compete favourably with top rated universities like the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and University of Ibadan among others.
His words, “Students are urged to make judicious use of the facilities because they are the future of the nation.

“The staff should cooperate with the authorities and be more patient. Rome was not built in a day so FUOYE would not be built in a day.
“But surely, what the horizon looks like is that we will be looking more like the Obafemi Awolowo University in the next five years.”
The Vice Chancellor also proudly announced that FUOYE would commence degree programme and Diploma programme in both Pharmacy and Mass Communication respectively by next 2020/21 academic session.
He, therefore, enjoined UTME candidates seeking for admission in Pharmacy for the academic session to consider changing their institution to FUOYE.
He also welcomed candidates seeking for Ordinary Diploma programme in Mass Communication to apply.
Recently, FUOYE celebrated two of her students, Oyesomi Fatimah and Alabi Sunday for making her proud on international scene.
Oyesomi emerged winner of the Build Africa 2020 Hospitality Management contest, while Alabi was selected as UN Millennium Fellowship on Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) 2020 project.
