A fire outbreak at the palace of Ooni of Ife has gutted a section of prowling compound.
The incident, which broke out in an apartment within the courtyard of the palace was blamed on power surge.
Residents revealed that the fire outbreak began, following an explosion suspected to have ensued from electrical appliances in the affected apartment.

However, combined efforts of the palace aides, fire service, and residents brought the fire under control.
According to the palace spokesman, Otunba Moses Olafare, who confirmed the incident, things had returned to normal in the Ooni’s palace.
