FIFA Women’s World Cup: Falcons land in second round, to face Germany

By George Aluo
Thailand did the Super Falcons a big favour Thursday night by not conceding too many goals against Chile, a situation that saw the Falcons land in the second round of the on going FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Thailand which fell 13-0 to USA put up stiff resistance in the game in which Chile needed three goals to get past Nigeria as one of the teams to land in the second round.
Just like Nigeria, Chile finished third in their group but with a -3 goal aggregate as against Falcons’ -2.
Cameroon had earlier in the day also landed in the second round after beating New Zealand 2-1 in a match the Lionnesses scored in the very last second of the match.
Falcons would on Saturday face Germany at 4 pm Nigerian time, two hours before the Eagles start their AFCON 2019 campaign against Burundi in Egypt.
