Tragedy struck in an Ondo State secondary school as a female student, identified as Sandra, stabbed her colleague, by name, Habib Sakau to death. The incident has resulted in many students keeping away from school today as panic has gripped the school community.
The incident took place at Akoko Anglican Grammar School, Arigidi, Ondo State.
Eyewitness account said the tragic event occurred after school hours on Thursday, following an altercation between the two students.
The witnesses reported that the scuffle, which many thought was only a play by the two students, escalated, as Sandra stabbed Habib with a knife, which resulted to his death.
Late Habib’s body has since been deposited at the Specialist Hospital mortuary in Ikare, Ondo State.
During interrogation by the Police, Sandra admitted that the knife used in the attack was provided by a student from a neighboring school Technical School.
The Ondo State Police Command spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the incident and assured the public that the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a thorough investigation.
Odunlami also said the police is committed to uncovering the full circumstances surrounding the death of the student, adding that justice would be served.
