The ‘Fake bishops’ at the unveiling of All Progressives Congress (APC) vice presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, have said that they are real bishops.
The ‘bishops’ caused a stir at Shettima’s unveiling, especially after some of them were seeing struggling for seats at the event, lifting seats from one position to another and changing from their bishop robes at the end of the ceremony. Some of the ‘bishops’ were also covering their faces after journalists accosted them for interviews. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) said they were artisans who didn’t have enough time to learn how to wear the bishop robes handed to them.
But the ‘bishops’ said they were genuine.
Addressing newsmen on Monday in Abuja, one of the ‘bishops’ who said he is the Secretary of the Muslim-Christian Love Foundation, an interfaith organisation of religious leaders, Bishop Adams Abel King, said they never portrayed themselves as emissaries of CAN.
He said they identified with Shettima and the APC because of the transformation he brought to Borno state.
