History was today made in Lagos as Dangote’s 650, 000 barrels per day capacity refinery rolled out premium motor spirit (pms), otherwise known as petrol, from its factory.

The feat elicited celebrations and palpable excitements among the people who gathered in Lekki area of Lagos to witness the feat.

Nigerians have waited for long for the petrol from the Dangote Refinery as the country has been grappling with fuel scarcity.

With the coming on stream of the pms section of the refinery today, Nigerians are expecting to see some improvements in the fuel supply efforts of the Federal government.

An elated Alhaji Aliko Dangote, owner of the 20 billion dollars facility told journalists today that he was happy with the progress, saying Nigerians will now have engine friendly fuel. He thanked his team for working very hard on the project.

He also thanked President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Governor of Lagos State, Babjide Sanwo-Olu for their immense support in seeing the refinery come through.

He pointed to his greying hair which he attributed to the pressures from getting the facility off the ground.

Dangote thanked all those who contributed to the success of the project.

Before the production of pms today, the refinery had earlier produced diesel and other fuels.

Production of pms has been shifted severally to December last year, March, May and then September this year.

At a stage, the refinery was unable to get the required crude to operate the facility from the NNPCL.
