Ex-PDP chairman, Secondus, Abiye Sekibo, other party stalwarts throw weight behind Tinubu, Fubara
Some prominent political juggernauts in Rivers State have gathered in Part Harcourt, the state capital, and expressed support for President Bola Tinubu and the state governor, Siminilayi Fubara.
The group was mostly composed of members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and supporters of former presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar.
Led by the former Minister of Transportation, Dr. Abiye Sekibo, they noted the unflinching support of the party and the Rivers State people for Fubara.
Sekibo, the Director-General of PDP-PCC in Rivers State during last year’s election, noted that that nobody was against Nyesom Wike, the FCT minister working with President Tinubu but urged him to allow peace to reign in the state.
Prince Uche Secondus, the former national chairman of the PDP, also assured Fubara of a second term in 2027.
Other stalwarts at the meeting were former deputy governor of the state, Tele Ikuru; Senator Lee Maeba; former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Austin Opara; Celestine Omehia, and former Secretary to the Rivers state government, Dr. Gabriel Pidomson, among others.
