A frontline politician, Otunba Abimbola Davis, is dead. He died this morning at a private hospital in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
His younger brother, Abass, who confirmed the news said that he had set out for a journey when a call came to him with the caller saying that his deceased brother wanted to see him at his Jericho residence in the ancient city.
He said that he got to his brother’s home only to be told by relatives that his brother died in a private hospital this morning.

This reporter who is a close friend of Davis for 33 years, said, “my heart is sunken. It’s unbelievable. He called me yesterday to request for Chief Segun Odegbami’s phone number. I can’t believe it”.
Otunba Davis will be remembered by Nigerians, mostly the Yoruba, on the role he played on the annulment of June 12th, 1993 presidential election which business mogul, late Chief M. K.O. Abiola was the acclaimed winner.
