Leicester City striker, Onyinye Wilfred Ndidi, has poured cold water on rumours, linking him with a big money move to Manchester United, even as he stressed that he was not ready to lace boots for any top European club, at least, for now.
Rumours in England have been rife that the Nath Boys Academy product was one of the players pencilled down by Jose Mourinho before he was sacked, as a potential replacement for aging Michael Carrick retiring at the end of the season.
In a swift reaction, Ndidi, 22, exclusively told The Nigerian Xpress Sports via social media that though he had never hidden his love for The Red Devils, he, however, hoped to see off his contract with Leicester before considering any future move.
The Nigerian international has already committed himself to fresh terms with The Foxes after developing into one of the English top-flight’s finest defensive midfielders, averaging 4.3 tackles per game. This attracted the attention of several teams last summer, but Leicester managed to keep him and has since tied the youngster until the summer of 2024.
“I have heard about offers from Spain, Italy and other top English clubs, but I am always happy here with my family,’’ Ndidi, who has enjoyed a rapid rise since his 17 million pounds move from Genk, disclosed to The Nigerian Xpress Sports.
Continuing, Ndidi stated: “My heart is with Leicester. The fans are extremely passionate about their club, awesome and one of the best in Europe. I am having the best seasons of my career here and I want to be 100 per cent focused and keep doing well. Summer transfer window is already getting closed and my number one priority is to finish the season on a good note with my club.’’
