The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has said he never gave orders for the destruction of properties of some Yoruba people.
Kanu was heard in a viral audio recording issuing orders to his followers but he has said that his instructions were mis-presented by his enemies to suit their desires.
Speaking, on Thursday, during an emergency Zoom meeting, entitled: “EndSARS is not an ethnic protest, stop the propaganda to make it one,” the IPOB leader warned his supporters and all Igbo against involvement with any destruction in the ongoing nationwide #ENDSARS protests.
Kanu accused agents of Federal Government of altering some sections of his recent broadcast to make it appear like he had turned the #ENDSARS protests against the Yoruba nation.
He added that those that created division between Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe during their time were bent on pitching Ndigbo and Yoruba against themselves in the present time.
Kanu urged the people to ignore any divisive statements credited to him, adding one needed to listen to his broadcast in full to really situate it.
Some prominent Yoruba elite, including the former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, and some members of Nzuko umumna were present in the zoom meeting.
