Mr Aamo Iorliam, the Managing Director, Aamorise Information Technologies Ltd, has urged
government to encourage more women into the science and technology sector.
He made the call in a telephone interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
According to him, women have always been relegated to the background in technology and science.

He said that women could equally do good or even better in science and technology “because the female brain, if trained accordingly, functions adequately to achieve a lot.
“I, therefore, want government to encourage more women and girls into the sector by first of all awarding them scholarships from primary to secondary levels.
If women are given opportunities, they can even do better than men.”
Iorliam said that government needed to motivate women and girls in terms of providing the right facilities, infrastructure and finances into science and ICT.
He expressed optimism that more women would go into sciences and ICT, and bring about greater development into the country in the nearest future.
“The Sustainable Development Goal Gender Goal recognises this reality, by including a means of implementation indicator, which directs the global community to enhance the use of enabling technology to empower women.” (NAN)
