‘Emi L’okan’ only referring to Ogun people, not Nigerians – Festus Keyamo

Spokesman for the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation, Mr. Festus Keyamo SAN has said the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, referring ‘Emi L’okan’  to only Ogun State delegates to the last national convention of the Party and not Nigerians.

‘Emi L’okan’, in English means ‘It is my turn’.

Mr. Keyamo stated this, on Tuesday, during a live episode of Politics Today on Channel Television.

Asiwaju Tinubu had said, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, in April, last year, during his campaign for APC presidential primary election.

Also recall that former President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Sunday, while endorsing the candidacy of Presidential standard-bearer of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, had rejected the slogan ‘Emi L’okan’.

The former Nigerian President said it was a wrong attitude and mentality for someone in Nigeria to say ‘Emi L’okan’.

In a letter on Sunday, Obasanjo said: “Let me say straight away that ‘Emi Lokan’ (My turn) and ‘I have paid my dues’ are one and the same thing and are wrong attitude and mentality for the leadership of Nigeria now.”

Those claims, according to Obasanjo, “cannot form the new pedestal to reinvent and to invest in a new Nigeria based on an All-Nigeria Government for the liberation and restoration of Nigeria.”

Obasanjo said no individual can claim he has the absolute solutions to Nigeria’s problems, stating that “the solution should be in ‘we’ and ‘us’ and not in ‘me’ and ‘I’.”

Tinubu’s ‘Emi l’okan’ billboards had since been erected across the South West and parts of Kogi, Kwara where they speak the Yoruba language.

Reacting, Mr.  Keyamo, said Asiwaju Tinubu only referred ‘Emi L’okan’ to Ogun APC delegates and not the whole Nigerians.

According to Keyamo, “Tinubu wasn’t speaking to Nigerians when he said ‘Emi L’okan’, he was speaking to APC delegates in Ogun State”.
