A fitness expert, Vicky Akingbade, has called on Nigerians to embrace the pain in exercising regularly, as there is no gain without pain.
According to her, most people run away from exercising because of the discomfort associated with exercising while failing to recognise the enormous gains to be reaped by exercising regularly.
“Let’s acknowledge an unhappy truth; working out doesn’t always feel wonderful. If you’re really pushing yourself to your limits, the point at which you’ll reap the maximum benefits of exercise, you’ll likely be pretty uncomfortable. Weight-bearing and cardiovascular activities stress the body. As a result of that stress, we enhance our strength and endurance. By pushing our physical boundaries, we optimise our athletic performance. But this process is almost always at the cost of feeling some level of pain,” she wrote.
She encouraged those willing to attain physical fitness to ignore the temporary pain and focus more on the long term benefit.

“If your feet start to get sore during a long marathon training run, don’t distract yourself from the pain; change the way you think about it. Acknowledge that it’s a sign you’re working hard, but that it’s not going to hurt you. If you get a small blister or hot spot on your foot but you know you have another five miles to go, remind yourself that this isn’t something that will hurt you,” she encouraged.
10 years challenge goes viral
The 10 years challenge is unarguably the most viral issue on the Internet right now. Notable personalities all over the world and not only in Nigeria have been hit by the 10 years challenge bug. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was the recent prominent Nigerian to take part in the ongoing viral 10 years challenge. Taking to his twitter handle, @atiku, the former vice president posted side-by-side photos, depicting what he looked like 10 years ago and what he looks like now.
The trend simply involves posting a photo of yourself from 10 years ago alongside a recent image, preferably from 2019. Participating in the challenge is pretty easy, all you have to do is share two side-by-side photographs of you 10 years apart, then post it to your Facebook/Instagram account with the hashtag #10YearChallenge.
As is always with social media challenges, it is a little unclear on who or what started the movement. But it has probably to do with Facebook’s feature that brings back old memories on your wall.
