Elerinmo congratulates Alaafin Owoade on coronation

 

Urges him to work for peace, unity of Yorubaland

 

A foremost traditional ruler in Yorubaland, the Elerinmo of Erinmo Ijesha, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Michael Odunayo Ajayi (Arowotawaya II), has congratulated newly-crowned 46th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, on the successes of his coronation activities.

In a release made available to the media, on Saturday, the Elerinmo said that the ascension of Oba Owoade into the stool of his forefathers came at a time Oyo town and the entire Yorubaland needed his services most.
Recall that Oba Owoade was coronated at a well-attended event which held at the Oliveth Baptist High School, in Oyo town, on Saturday, after Governor Seyi Makinde had presented his Staff of Office to him in January, this year.

The Elerinmo, who expressed belief that Oba Owoade’s ascension would usher greater progress for the entire Oyo State and Yorubaland, enjoined people of the ancient town to rally round the new monarch to move the state and Nigeria forward.

Said he, “This momentous occasion marks the beginning of a significant new chapter in the rich and storied history of the Oyo Empire and the Yoruba people.
“We rejoice in your selection and offer our unwavering support as you embark on this noble and sacred duty.

“As the adage goes, ‘to whom much is given, much is expected’. Your Majesty inherits a legacy of immense prestige and responsibility, stepping into the significant shoes of your esteemed predecessor”.

The Elerinmo added, “A great deal rests upon your shoulders for the continued strength, unity and cultural preservation of the Yoruba race and its cherished monarchical traditions are intrinsically linked to the leadership of our foremost monarchs.
“I know that your wisdom, guidance, and commitment to the Yoruba heritage will be crucial in navigating the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead”.

The Elerinmo also said that he has confidence “In your ability to uphold the dignity and honour of the Alaafin stool and to serve as a beacon of unity and progress for the Yoruba people, both at home and in the diaspora.”
He prayed for Alaafin Owoade that “May the wisdom of your ancestors guide your reign, and may the Almighty grant you the strength, good health, and foresight to lead your people to greater heights.
“We pledge our loyalty and prayers as you undertake this vital role in safeguarding our cultural heritage and ensuring the continued prosperity of the Yoruba nation”.
