The Kano State Government has pledged to support any move that would lead to a hitch-free 2019 general elections for the sustenance of the nation’s democracy.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Deputy Governor’s Office, Alhaji Balarabe Abdullahi in Kano, gave this assurance, on Wednesday.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje was quoted as giving the assurance when he received the liaison officer of the European Union Election Observer mission, Nigeria 2019, Mr Jereome Domergue, who visited him in his office.
Ganduje, represented by his Deputy Dr Nasiru Gawuna, said Kano State Government would continue to give support to any organisation that had a role to play in ensuring peaceful election in the country.
He explained that the administration was committed toward ensuring zero violence with a view to having a successful conduct of the 2019 election in the State.
“European Union is part of the most authentic body when it comes to this issue and similar issues of relationship.
“Let me assure you that the Government of Kano State under the leadership of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje will give all the necessary support to carry out your responsibilities,’’ he said.

He pointed out that election was now becoming stable and violence-free in Nigeria, citing the Osun State Governorship election as one of the most peaceful election conducted in the recent time.
Earlier, Domergue said: “they were at the Governor’s office to inform him about their preparation to commence tour to all the local government areas across the State as part of their mission.’’
The liaison officer said more teams were also coming to join their group as part of the European Union effort, to monitor and ensure free and fair election in the state and the country.
He then solicited for the State Government’s support and cooperation to carry out their activities without any obstacle and hope for the successful conduct of the 2019 general elections (NAN).
