No less than eight members in the cabinet of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State have resigned their appointments to contest into seats in the House of Representatives, next year.
They were, however, gunning to do so under the banner of their party; the All Progressives Congress (APC) as they are already warming up for the primaries of the party next month to pick the tickets.
Meanwhile, three of the eight aspirants are facing each other at the expected shadow election to pick tickets for one seat at the Federal House of Representatives while another two are slugging it out with one another to pick the ticket and also run in their respective constituencies.

Those that were set to tackle each other in the quest included Alhaja Saa’dat Modibbo-Kawu, wife of a journalist, who was the first to make her resignation and aspiration public. Modibbo-Kawu was, until last week, the state’s Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development.
Others in the same boat are Hadjia Fatima Arinola Lawal; daughter of the late Governor Mohammed Lawal, who resigned as Commissioner for Enterprise and the Kwara State Social Investment Programne (KWASSIP) General Manager; Mr. Mohammed Braimoh. He is one of the governor’s kitchen cabinet members.
The three of them are eyeing the seat for Ilorin Wast/Ilorin South Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.
Also, Harriet Afolabi Oshatimehin, who until last week, was the Commissioner for Mining and Kayode Oyin Zubair who was Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Community Intervention, are slugging it out with themselves for the Ifelodun/Oyun/Offa seat in the House of Representatives.

The state’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Salman Jawondo SAN also resigned to contest the seat for the Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency in the House.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Raji Razaq also resigned last week to seek the seat for Irepodun/ Ekiti/Oke Ero/Isin Federal Constituency seat.
The only aspirant showing interest in the Senate to represent the Kwara Central District is Mallam Ahmed Yinka Aluko who was Special Adviser on Special Duties to the governor until his resignation last week.
