A legal practitioner and pro-democracy activist, Eyitope Success-Adekunle, has said that the role and effect of infrastructure development on the economy in Nigeria, albeit, in all nations is vital and cannot be overemphasised.
Success-Adekunle stated this in a speech she presented at a forum where she said that, having looking critically at the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari on the development of infrastructure this past six years vis a vis its effect on the economy, one will surely agree that, infrastructure development and economic growth are Siamese twins that cannot be separated.
According to her, it is little wonder that the President, from the onset in 2015 has made the development of infrastructure a cornerstone of economic advance, praising the President and his administration for a commendable policy choice that is giving the populace real dividends of democracy.
The courageous woman activist expressed her informed belief against the remarks of the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Obi, who was reported to have said that, the President can’t use infrastructure to improve the economy, saying, the reality on the ground has shown the economy is being given a push through the development of vital infrastructure across all the vital sectors in the country.
She asserted that it is crystal clear that, development of infrastructure, no doubt drives the economy in any society, any community and in any nation of the world, admitting that, Fashola’s performance to ensure that through the construction of a good road network, durable housing units and other infrastructure across the country is a pointer to the fact that Buhari’s administration means business in the growth of the economy.
Against this backdrop, the vocal legal practitioner cum activist stressed the need to commend the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), on whose shoulders the responsibility of infrastructure development rests, thanking God for President Muhammadu Buhari for choosing him as the man in charge of the assignment.
She added that, since it is an indisputable fact that, infrastructure development is uppermost in the heart of President Muhammadu Buhari, Fashola needs support and assistance to succeed, admitting that, so far, the man, Fashola, is doing well.
The woman leader restated for the umpteen time that, the portfolios Fashola is handling, especially road infrastructure is needed for driving the economy, expressing the delights that, “he has not been found wanting in that regards, a situation that makes us feel very proud of him as a performer that has never disappointed us.”
