EFCC to arraign Cubana Chief Priest Wednesday over Naira abuse
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will on Wednesday, arraign socialite Cubana Chief Priest for alleged naira abuse.
The commission filed a charge against him at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi.
Cubana Chief Priest will be arraigned before Justice Kehinde Ogundare at 9am.
EFCC last week said many celebrities are being probed for their illegal use of the nation’s currency. This was after cross-dresser, Idris Okunneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, was convicted Friday following EFCC’s prosecution of him for naira abuse. He was jailed for six months.
Netizens have also called the attention of the EFCC to a video of Folashade Tinubu, daughter of President Bola Tinubu, who was once caught ‘spraying’ naira notes on the Akogun of Egba.
According to a report by FIJ, the video was published on December 11, 2019, and has remained in the public domain for nearly five years.
Netizens who shared the six-minute-long video of Folashade throwing wads of naira notes in the air, have asked that the First daughter, as she calls herself, be dragged like other Naira abusers before a judge.
Naira abuse is an offence which contravenes Section 21 (3) of the CBN Act, 2007.
