Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who stormed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Zamfara State office, on Wednesday, recovered four bags containing monies believed to be part of the N84.6 million ad hoc staff allowances diverted by officials of the commission.
The EFCC operatives, who arrived the INEC Gusau office around 11.20a.m, left the premises at 1.40p.m. carrying the four ‘Ghana Must Go’ bags containing the cash in a white Toyota Hiace bus.
According to a source, the four bags were recovered from the Accountant’s office.

The source added that some documents were also recovered from the Accountant’s office.
He said the INEC officials were arrested by the EFCC operatives, who conducted the search, and that after the search, they were taken back by the EFCC along with the monies and documents recovered.
However, mixed reaction trailed the visit of the EFCC operatives to the INEC office. Some people, who were sympathetic to the suspected officials involved in the alleged fraud, claimed that they might have been roped in the scam, while some others believed that most of those suspected are known for their greed and therefore serves them right.
