Education, the only reliable tool for secure human development -Senator Seriake Dickson, Hensard University chancellor
Education is the only secure path to any form of development in human society, the Senator representing Bayelsa West, Seriake Dickson has asserted.
Senator Dickson who spoke at the maiden matriculation ceremony of Hensard University which was held at the university’s matriculation arena in Toru- Orua, Bayelsa State stressed that education is the only reliable tool in changing any human society.
Senator Dickson who is chancellor of Hensard University explained further that building roads, bridges and other infrastructure is brick and mortar and only achievable through the development of the human mind.
While emphasising that the focus of Hensard University is the total development of the human being and not just academic excellence, the university chancellor admonished the matriculants and inductees to be focused and do their utmost, knowing the high standards the university has set.
He urged the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dileep Kumar and his team to continue to work together to translate the goals and vision of the university, combining academic excellence, skills development and industry mentorship to produce leaders and graduate entrepreneurs.
Senator Dickson also announced the preparedness of the university to start the second academic session, stressing that the ball is in motion for the commencement of its professional courses in Law, Medicine, Engineering, Nursing, and Pharmacy among others.
The acting Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo congratulated the matriculants and inductees, admonishing them to take their studies seriously as education is the only tool to conquer the world.
Senator Ewhrudjakpo who was represented by Mr. Gentle Emelah, commissioner of education lauded Dickson’s long-term vision in education and his concept of service to humanity that has materialized in the founding of Hensard University.
He thanked the vice chancellor and his management team and restated the state government’s commitment to partnering with the university.
Vice Chancellor Professor Kumar, in his remarks, thanked Senator Dickson for bringing his big dream to fruition and his management team for the support in translating the vision of the university’s founder.
Professor Kumar urged the students to take their academics seriously, adding that education is the springboard to self-development and accomplishment of their dreams and goals.
The Hensard University don thanked all who attended the event and prayed God to grant them a safe journey to their various destinations.
Master Ediro Ebruwiyor, Miss Tamaraebi Tasibo, and other pioneer Matriculants who spoke to newsmen shortly after the ceremony expressed their excitement to witness such a historic day.
They thanked the chancellor, vice chancellor and his management team for providing them with a state-of-the-art learning environment and facility that will enable them to compete favourably with students anywhere on the globe.
