Edo hunters in trouble for shooting mourners

Two hunters in Edo State are now telling the state’s Police Command how they shot and wounded six mourners at a burial ceremony in Ama community of Esan South East Area.

A statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kontongs Bello, in Benin-City, confirmed that the suspects, John Ebatame and Moses Okoyomon, were arrested for allegedly shooting the victims at the burial ceremony of one Martina Rabi.

Bello said, “On June 25, 2021 about 1900hrs, Edo State Police Command through the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Agbede Division, CSP Iredia Ogiata received information that there was shooting at Ama Community.”

Therefore, the state’s Commissioner of Police (CP), Phillip Ogbadu, assured the people in the affected community that the police were investigating the incident, warning that nobody should threaten lives or take laws into their hands.
