Edo State deputy governor, Rt. Hon. Phillip Shaibu is leaving no stone unturned in the efforts aimed at making sure the state is ready for next year’s national sports festival tagged Edo 2020.
The sports loving deputy governor who has been keeping a close tab on the on going re construction of Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium was at the arena today (Thursday) to inspect the project.
Shaibu was at the stadium with top government officials that included newly elected Speaker of Edo House of Assembly, Hon. Okiye.
Chairman of Edo Sports Commission, Barrister Dudu Orumen told The Nigerian Xpress Sports that the renovation of the iconic arena is going well.
In his words:”It is a wholesale reconstruction of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium…the project is going well.”
It would be noted that Edo state last year won the National Sports Festival hosting right. The last edition of the games was hosted by the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Apart from reconstructing the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Edo state government has also embarked on mini stadium projects in all the local governments of the state.
