President Bola Tinubu has again appealed for support and patience from Nigerians for his administration to overcome its current economic challenges and move the country forward.
The President, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, spoke on Saturday at the All Progressives Congress, APC), 2024 South-West Zone General Assembly held at Victoria Island.
He also promised to give serious considerations to all deliberations at the General Assembly saying there would be light at the end of the tunnel.
Also speaking, the South West Coordinator and Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu restated his administration’s commitment to explore ways at working more closely and collaboratively with the federal government effectively for the progress of the party and Nigerians which he said will rebirth Nigeria to be on a forward trajectory.
He urged the people to believe in the leadership of President Tinubu and the renewed hope agenda, while urging party members to embrace peace, forgiveness and reconciliation.
Governor of Ekiti, Biodun Oyebanji, urged support for President Tinubu’s administration and suggested the Assembly be replicated at State, local and ward levels, while his Ondo State counterpart, Lucky Ayedatiwa, called for assessment of areas of comparative advantages in encouraging and empowering the youths with focus on agriculture.
In his welcome address, National Vice Chairman, APC South-West Zone, Isaac Kekemeke, expressed the unwavering commitment of the party to improve on its previous performance, plan ahead and mobilize on the need to engage the people while addressing challenges to ensure a greater future.
In his Keynote Address, former Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Kayode Fayemi, urged the party to commit to wealth and employment creation, skills acquisition to enhance national development, revamp education sector, empower women, youth, People With Disabilities and ensure the unity, peace, progress of the country as well as create opportunities for all citizens.
Present at the event were APC Chieftains, Bisi Akande, Olusegun Osoba, members of the South West National Assembly’s Caucus, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Biodun,former governors and deputy governors as well as women and youth leaders.
