The biting economic hardship has taken a tragic twist as a woman abandoned her three children at a police station in Enugu before diving under a moving vehicle, which crushed her to death.

It was gathered that the yet to be identified woman walked into the Ogui Road police station with the children, handed them over to officers, stripped naked before running off and dived under a moving vehicle.

The three children, who could not give any other information about their family, town, or residential address, were aged between six and two years. They could only say their father was lost.

The man had allegedly absconded from home some months ago because of the  increasing hardship, abandoning his wife and the children.

However, Nkechinyere Mbah,  the Enugu State First Lady, promised to take care of the children and train them from nursery school to university, a responsibility that her Custos Care Foundation would take up.

Governor Mbah’s wife also directed that the children should be relocated from the police station to a home, where the state government could take care of them.
