Ebonyi Govt solicits for partnership with NGO’s in Infrastructures Development

...to pay compensation to 207 Project Affected Persons

Ebonyi State Government has solicited for partnership from  organised Private Sectors and Non-Governmental Organisations ( NGO’s) in the areas of roads construction and infrastructural development of the State.
The State Commissioner for Project Monitoring /Evaluation Chief Ukie Ezeali, made the appeal in his country home Afikpo North local Government Area of the state when members of the 1996 Set of Government College Afikpo bestored an Honourary award on him as a member of the State Executive Council.
He said that it was imperative for Private Sector partnership with the government to complement the numerous developmental strides of the  state government  in different sectors of the economy.
In a related development the Ebonyi State Government is poised to pay compensation to over 207 Persons whose properties were  affected in the construction of the on-going Ring road project in the state.
The Special Assistant to Governor David Umahi on Investment Ms Chioma Nweze, made the disclosure at the weekend while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting .
The Governor’s aide said that the government resolution to  pay the affected persons was the fall out of decisions reached regarding the 195 Km Ring road project, a joint partnership between the state government, Islamic Bank and African Development Bank (AFDB).
“As a result of the Environmental Impact Assessment ( EIA), government was able to identify 207 Persons classified as “Project Affected Persons”
“Government is embarking on rehabilitation of this affected persons,  markets and Economic Crops were affected, the Local government authorities were directed to provide land for the re- location of the markets”
The Special Assistant restated that 1,055 Economic trees will be affected during the construction of the ring road project that cuts across seven local government areas of the state .
“Each tree removed along the affected areas would be replaced with new ones, we would ensure that there would be no de-forestation”
It would be recalled that the Ebonyi State Government has embarked on the construction of 195 Km Ring roads in partnership with Islamic Bank and the African Development Bank ( AFDB) that cuts across seven local government areas of the state.
